Prince joined us September 23rd. He is a mini poodle approximately 17 years old. His owner Gabrielle finally found us after searching as far as Canada for a senior dog sanctuary. If she wasn’t able to find a no kill rescue for him, she would have to face the choice of having him euthanized. She didn’t believe me at first when I said we would take Prince. She said “Really, you swear you won’t change your mind?” and I answered “Yes! Gabrielle, when I commit to a dog, it is for life. Whether I adopt a dog or it stays here for life, I will see that dog through to the end. You have my word.” She burst into tears. We spoke for a few more minutes and then I told her that she could sleep well tonight for the first time in a while knowing that she had finally found a place for her beloved pet. Prince would be safe.
Prince is a special needs dog and will be staying with us for the remainder of his days. He is incontinent, blind and deaf. Despite the vision impairment, you’d be surprised at how well he gets around. He even breaks out into a run in our fenced in area. He loves to give kisses and play wrestles, too. He still has so much life left in him and so much love to give.
Prince is yet another example of how important the work we do here at Mureille’s Place is. Please continue to support us in our mission to rescue senior dogs in need.
Donations are always appreciated and we love to have people come and volunteer and spend time with our guys. Call Barbara at 570-579-8172 or go on our website www.mureillesplace.org to make a secure donation via Paypal.
